Run Throughs - Open and Utility - all levels - 6:00 PM

Ready to complete! Run Through classes prepare the handler and dog for the competition show ring for AKC Open and Utility titles. In this class you will have the opportunity to practice a "trial like" competition obedience experience. In a trial like situation, students will have the opportunity to practice the exercises in each class. The instructor will be available to provide feedback and offer training suggestions. Approximately fifteen minutes per dog. Team may take another class.
This class will be outside on grass and may include jumps.

ScentWork Level 4 - Intermediate/Advanced - 6:00 PM

Teams will learn to identify and indicate specific scents used by AKC and other organizations.. Team handling and proficiency with handler body movement, alert recognition, and timing will be refined. Proficiency with these techniques will lead to AKC Scent Work and other trialing organization titles.
Prerequisite: Referral from ScentWork Level 3 Novice/Intermediate instructor or equivalent experience.

- Crate for your dog
- Lots of “high-value” treats in a pouch
- Flat buckle, collar, or harness
- At least a 10 foot leash, easy to take on and off

Tricks - 6:00 PM

Tricks of all levels will be introduced & practiced so returning students and beginning students alike can benefit from this class.
This class will prepare you for any level AKC Novice Tricks title you’re working for or you can simply enjoy working with your dog, without going for a title.
About 20 tricks will be introduced, including crawl, tug, touch, balance something on nose, spin, push a skateboard and many more.
Prerequisite: Basic obedience such as sit, stay and heel. Be able to work near other dogs while on leash.
Equipment:
- All collars are acceptable, except no e-collars. Your instructor recommends a flat or buckle collar
- 6 foot leash
- A variety of items such as a hula hoop, a button or push bell, a box large enough for your dog to get in. Each class we will discuss what to bring to the next class and may vary by student.
Handler equipment:
- A treat bag or pockets to put your dog’s food in
- Lots of food for your dog. It can be their daily food allowance and/or treats. The more variety the better! (NO treats that are oily, flaky, or crumbly)
*TIP: have the food ready cut into pinky nail size bites.
- Water bowl and water for you & your dog
- Comfy shoes and clothing

Beginner Obedience - 7:00 PM

The course begins to train you to train your dog. Basic obedience skills are introduced. Topics include correct equipment, commands/praise/release, proper footwork, how dogs communicate/learn, sit/stay, walking on a leash.
STAR Puppy Program: Students in this class with this specific instructor and a dog under 12 months are eligible for the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy program. Ask the instructor for details.
Prerequisite: Dog must be 16 weeks or older on the first day of class and not agressive.

CGC / Intermediate Obedience - 7:00 PM

This class is for students who wish to prepare their dog for the CGC required behaviors as well as for students who just want to advance their dog's obedience skills to a higher level, e.g., longer stays, duration attention, focused heeling, ignoring distractions, emergency stop and rock solid recall. Food rewards are used; however, students will learn how to wean off food rewards through the use of engagement and play.

Novice II - 7:00 PM

Take your skills to the next level. The Novice class is intended for those handlers who wish to perfect their obedience exercises beyond the Canine Good Citizen level. The class is aimed at Beginner Novice (BN) and AKC Novice Companion Dog (CD) handlers. The Novice class will cover off-leash heeling and figure eight. In addition, the recall exercise, the BN "leave your dog and walk around the ring", and sit and stand for exam are included. Students will practice group sits and downs (1 minute each), and "handler leave your dog to get your leash". The class may be repeated as needed.
Prerequisite: Approval of the instructor. The handler should know all of the exercises included in Novice 1, heel on leash with figure eight and off leash recall plus finishes, stand for exam, heel free, sit stay and get your leash, as well as group sit and down stays. This class prepares a dog for the Novice class that can earn the Companion Dog (CD) title. This class is usually repeated.

Rally Novice / Intermediate - 7:00 PM

In Rally Novice / Intermediate you and your dog will master the Rally Novice and Intermediate signs and will learn how to effectively walk a rally course. Time permitting, we will also work on effective ring entry.
AKC Rally is intended as a stepping-stone to the more formal AKC obedience, with many exhibitors doing rally prior to competitive obedience. Rally is divided into the following levels: Rally Novice and Intermediate both performed on-leash, followed by off-leash Advanced, Excellent and Master levels. Rally Intermediate is an optional level.
Prerequisite: Your dog needs to be able to heel on leash, sit, stand, down, front, finish to the left and right, as well as stay in the sit, down and stand positions.

ScentWork Level 3 - Novice/Intermediate - 7:00 PM

This class is intended for dogs who are on odor and/or pairing and want to improve their skills in AKC Scent Work and other trialing organizations. Teams will work on improving their skills in change of behaviors, reward timing, leash handling, handler body movement, and drive to odor.
Prerequisite: Referral from ScentWork Beginning I & II instructor or equivalent experience and dogs should recognize more than one odor.
