AKC Novice Obedience Training
with Dave Signorotti
Our AKC Novice Obedience class is a great next step to continue your dog’s obedience training journey. Developed in the 1930s, competitive obedience is one of the oldest sports offered by the AKC and is open to dogs of all breeds and mixed breeds.
In this class, you and your dog will learn the core exercises performed in Novice obedience, including on- and off-leash heeling, recalls, and sit- and down-stays. These skills prepare teams to compete in AKC Obedience trials and work toward the AKC Companion Dog (CD) Title.
Whether your goal is to step into the obedience ring or simply develop a focused, well-mannered companion, this class will help strengthen teamwork, communication, and reliable obedience skills.
Skills practiced include:
- Heeling with adjustment in pace, including stops and starts, and figure eights
- Sit-stay and recall from a distance
- Stand for exam, an exercise where the dog allows a stranger to come up and touch it while staying without the owner next to the dog
Our experienced trainers will help you build a competitive team with your dog and cultivate a willingness to work.

Rally - Novice & Intermediate Training
with Amanda Gardner
Rally is a unique dog sport that emphasizes teamwork between you and your dog. Together, you will navigate a course at your own brisk pace, working side-by-side to complete various exercises.
In Rally, you and your dog move through a course made up of signs, each representing a different obedience command or skill. The course is designed by the instructor and includes a variety of commands like sit, down, stay, and more, along with various turns and movements. Whether you're preparing for a Rally competition or just want to have fun with your dog, this course is the perfect way to enjoy training together.
Rally offers a clear path for you and your dog to grow together in training. The levels are designed to match your progress and build skills step-by-step:
Rally Intermediate & Advanced: Where you and your dog work together on-leash, 10-17 signs.
Rally Excellent & Master level courses. These levels transition to off-leash work, allowing for even more freedom and advanced skills as you and your dog master each challenge, 15-20 signs.
